S-Pass work permits will be issued to foreign skilled workers effective  01 July 2004

 

To qualify for the S-Pass:

 

a.  Minimum monthly basic salary of S$ 1,800

b.  Diploma or technical qualification

c.  Work experience, skills and job type will also be considered (occupations  like nurses, physiotherapist, computer programmers, laboratory technicians & aerospace tech.)

 

New Labor Developments for Household Workers (HHW)

 

New HHWs are required to attend a safety awareness course conducted by the National Safety Council as a prerequisite for the issuance of work permit

Employer pays S$ 20 for the seminar

Employer is required to attend an orientation course on maid welfare and penalties for abuse

48 hours workweek

sick leave benefit not exceeding 30 days in 1 year

Total period of employment should not exceed 6 years.
