    Japanese group want policy changes in accepting foreign care workers

    A member of the House of Representatives of Japan and a group from the education and nursing care sectors in Okinawa wanted the simplification of the policy in accepting foreign care workers in their country.

    DOLE Undersecretary Bernard P. Olalia said Mikio Shimoji headed the delegation that apprised POEA officials on their proposal to adopt a separate framework apart from the existing Japanese immigration rules on nursing care in view of the projected need for high quality nursing care resulting from Japan’s ageing population.

    Saudi imposes “dependent’s fee" on foreign workers

    The government of Saudi Arabia now requires expatriate workers, including overseas Filipino workers, to pay for each family member or dependent holding a resident permit or iqama.

    Starting July 1, 2017, foreign workers in the Kingdom have to pay to the General Directorate of Passport the amount of 100 Saudi riyals or approximately Php1,350 per dependent per month.

    Warning on fake POEA Facebook pages

    POEA officer-in-charge Bernard P. Olalia said there is a proliferation of Facebook pages that use the name and logo of the POEA to advertise job vacancies in countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand and the United States that were not verified or approved by the POEA
